Our Program
The kindergarten’s indoor-outdoor program is centred around PLAY and is developed through the collaboration of the children, the families and the Educators. It is vitally important to us that the child’s voice is heard (their ideas) and that their interests are catered to throughout the program. This enables children to develop a great passion for learning through knowing that their ideas are valued and they are seen as capable and competent individuals.
The development of skills and competencies is promoted largely through play (supported by a variety of materials and a wide range of experiences). This is done under the direction and guidance of the educating team who understand and value play as an avenue for learning and are inspired by the children’s interests and ideas.
When responding to children’s interests and ideas we are able to introduce experiences that will enable the children to gain skills in many areas including:
•Social skills –such as forming relationships and working alongside others
•Science
•Literacy
•Numeracy
•Art
•Technology
•Music, movement and drama
•Physical Education
•Sustainable practices
•Cultural awareness
For each child that attends Mulgrave Park Preschool we aim for them to develop strong learning dispositions that will equip them for future learning adventures at primary school and beyond. We encourage children to be creative, inquisitive and imaginative in their learning. We want them to develop their confidence, social competencies and perseverance while building on their skills in problem solving and investigation. You will see many of these skills develop through the Collabortaive Planning Wall and Individual Profile books – it is always so exciting seeing each child flourish and grow as these skills develop.

•Please name all items brought to Kinder
•Please encourage your child to leave their own toys at home.
Snack Time
Progressive snack times
We recognise that not all children eat at the same time in their home environments and will be hungry at different times. Through helping children understand the cues of their body we encourage the children to eat when they are hungry. We want them to have choice and educate them on the values of ‘brain food’.
Children can choose when they eat their snacks (morning/afternoon tea) during the session, however we will have a set lunch time for the four year olds.
We encourage children to make good choices in the food they eat and to help you with healthy ideas to pack in their lunchbox we have included some suggestions on the next page.
